Composite Door Lock Repairs
Composite doors are fitted with a multi point locking mechanism with hooks and bolts that lock into locking keeps in the frame.
Components inside the locking mechanism can wear out or fail. You might notice that the handle becomes increasingly difficult to lift, the key doesn't turn properly, or the door won't open or close.
I repair and replace all types of composite door locking mechanisms. This includes failed centre gearboxes, broken hooks, faulty euro cylinders and damaged door handles.
Door Alignment
One of the most common problems I come across with composite doors is poor alignment. Over time, the door can drop slightly on its hinges, which causes the hooks and locking points to catch against the keeps on the frame.
This puts additional pressure on the locking mechanism every time you lift the handle. Eventually, the small internal parts of the gearbox can break under the strain.
If your composite door locks perfectly when it's open but becomes difficult to lock when closed, this nearly always points to an alignment problem.
I can adjust the hinges and reposition the locking keeps making sure everything lines up correctly. This is often a labour only repair with no replacement parts required
Multi Point Locks For Composite Doors
Sometimes a composite door's multi-point locking mechanism is beyond repair and needs replacing.
I work with many different manufacturers of composite door locks, including Yale, ERA, Winkhaus, Fullex, Locksmaster and Maco.
Depending on the make and model, sometimes I only need to replace the gearbox rather than the whole locking mechanism.
Even if your composite door is quite old and the original locking mechanism is no longer manufactured, I can always find a compatible replacement which can be retrofitted to your door.
Composite Door Jammed Shut?
If your composite door has jammed in the locked position and you can't get it open, I can open it without causing damage.
This is often caused by a failed gearbox or one of the locking points becoming stuck in the door frame. Sometimes the handle will move freely without actually doing anything, while other times it becomes completely solid and cannot be moved at all.
I specialise in non-destructive lock opening and will assess the fault before deciding on the best method of opening the door.
Once the door is open, I can inspect the locking mechanism, identify what caused the failure and carry out the repair.

If your composite door handle has worked loose or has too much free play I supply and fit replacement handles in a range of colours and finishes to match your existing composite door furniture.
I also stock a range of high security door handles which can be used as a security upgrade to stop a common break in method. These handles work great as a standalone item but can be made even higher secuirty when paired with one of our anti snap locks.
Got a Draught?
If you've started noticing cold air coming through your composite door, it could be an alignment problem.
Composite doors need to sit correctly against the seals around the frame. If the hinges have dropped or the locking keeps are incorrectly positioned, the door might not pull tightly against these seals when it's locked.
I can get the door closing and locking perfectly again and eliminate the draught. Usually, small adjustments are all that’s needed so there may be no replacement parts needed.
